Grace Naa Korkoi Amoah

Grace Naa Korkoi Amoah is an outstanding international student from Ghana. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences with a major in Sociology and Economics from the University of Cape Coast. She had a strong passion for student activism, leading her to become the University's Vice president of the Student Representative Council. Through her dedication and hard work, policies including the “Better Lecture Theatre” for all students were implemented and have since been judiciously carried on by subsequent administrations. In her final year, she was awarded the Pro-Vice Chancellor's Excellence Choice award for her exemplary leadership as a student. She has a strong interest in policy and administration in African Countries; thus, during her MPhil in Economics program at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana, her thesis topic was: The Impact of Foreign Direct Investment on Income Inequality among Sub-Sharan African Countries. She began her master’s degree in sociology at Kent State University in 2022. During this time, she worked as a graduate research assistant and collaborated with professors on research related to mental apartheid experienced by African Americans. Having completed some projects in African studies, she is now driven to pursue a Ph.D. in Africana Studies. She firmly believes there is still so much to uncover and offer in this field, particularly concerning mental health, gender, inequalities, and crime.
